The 80s are definitely back.
Former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins is only too happy to welcome the bold, bright colours back into her wardrobe after a predominately black winter.
Hawkins, the face of Myer, stunned Brisbane crowds today, launching their spring/summer collection at the Queen Street store.
“I think the 80s is back, like it is totally back, so lots of colour with accessories,” she said.
“Also maybe a statement shoulder jacket and some denim cut off shorts.”
But not everyone is as excited about the return of the shoulder pads, with her prediction receiving a mixed response from the crowd.
Shrugging it off, Hawkins acknowledged, “Some people like it, some people don’t.”
“I like the toned down version [of shoulder pads], not like the footballers.”
QUT fashion student Jennifer Kumnick was one of a privileged few helping out with the show, and said Hawkins was fantastic to work with.
“She kept everything going really well,” she said.
“She has a really good energy to have backstage, that kept everyone calm and having fun.”
